If you are still using an HDD drive in your computer, it’s time to switch to an SSD Drive. There are many reasons to do this and you will be more than please with the results. It’s no secret anymore that SSD’s (Solid State Drives) are better than HDD’s (hard disk drives) for your personal computer. The SSD will provide much better performance and give you more benefits than you expect. Below are a few reasons it’s time to switch to an SSD drive.

  1. They are faster – need I say more? The technology in the SSD drive is so much better than the HDD which allows you to do things much faster. To access data, a typical SSD takes about 35 to 100 microseconds, which is about 100 times faster than an HDD. This can boot up a Mac in less than a minute. I always get a kick out of this since I started with 5/14 floppy disks. I could make and serve coffee before the computer booted up! LOL.
  2. They are more reliable. Most of the SSDs used in your computers use something called NAND flash memory. It is a type of nonvolatile storage technology that doesn’t require power to retain data. This technology eliminates the risk of losing or corrupting data in case the SSD is left unplugged. And if SSDs fail, your computer would still be able to read data, unless the actual memory chips are damaged. In addition, HDDs rely on magnetism to write data, so exposing your computer to a strong magnet could erase all information on your drive. This is an unlikely problem with SSDs, which do not contain parts with magnetic coatings that can be easily damaged when exposed to a magnetic field.
  3. They last longer. This is mainly because the SSD’s do not have all of the moving parts an HDD has,, live drive platters and read arms that the HDD’s have so they won’t break if you accidentally bump your computer. You still have to be careful, but the likelihood of the SSD breaking is a lot less.

Time to Switch To An SSD Drive

Upgrading to an SSD is not going to break the bank. It’s a very simple and viable solution for a slow computer. Add an SSD and some memory and you will be very pleased with there results.
