The Microsoft Codess event is tonight at the W Hotel in Midtown. CEO of Tier3MD will serve on the panel, along with other female leaders in technology. The theme tonight is “Think Big”.
Codess is a community for female coders initiated by Microsoft, established to explore ways to promote gender diversity in the engineering field. Engineering has historically been a male dominated industry and it is part of our mission to help change the future of this profession. Codess aims to inspire female coders and help them achieve their professional goals. Through networking events, mentoring and sharing advice and experiences, they hope to offer a forum to women unlike any other.
Codess is just one example of the gender diversity initiatives that Microsoft is engaged in. Microsoft offers the technology program DigiGirlz, which is designed to provide high school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about. Microsoft UK’s TParty also brings you It Starts with a Spark where nominated women are able to learn how to build their own app in a day, opening a window into a world of technology-related careers.
