Sheryl Cherico, CEO of Tier3MD has been asked to speak at the Georgia Society of Rheumatology Meeting June 13th at the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee. Her topic will be “Cybercrime and How to Protect Your Practice”. “I just presented this topic at the Oklahoma MGMA meeting last month and it was extremely well received”, says Cherico. “With all the attention on Sony, Anthem and other hacks and breaches, people are starting to pay attention now.”

Cybercrime is coming to healthcare. Hackers and thieves now know that there is data in those offices and facilities that are valuable to them. When practices had paper charts, they were not as interested. In the last few years, hackers are specifically targeting the healthcare industry.

In an article in PC World in February, 2015, it stated that the healthcare industry is 10 years behind the banking industry in security. Surprised? Don’t be. Hackers had no interest in paper charts and claims billing. They do now. This presentation will help practices secure their network and take the necessary steps to make sure their electronic health records are safe, and secure.
