In our electronic world of computers, tablets, smartphones, IoT devices and more, data breaches and hacks are now becoming the norm. Believe me…I hate to admit that out loud. At first, when data breaches and hacks came to the forefront, it was mostly people that did not have good protection of their devices. People that would let antivirus expire, forego Microsoft patches and updates, and no invest in the small cost of maleware protection. Forget all of that now. Data breaches and hacks are going to happen. It’s just a matter of when, and how much damage it will cause.

Data Breaches and Hacks

There is no 100% guaranteed way to secure your network. There are many steps you can take to help avoid numerous intrusions, however nothing is 100%. The reason for this is two fold. One, because a lot depends on the user. There is nothing to protect you from “clicking on that link”, or “going to that website”. The best way to help protect the users is to educate them. No one in your practice wants to be the person responsible for clicking on a link that brings down the practice. Having them fully understand phishing schemes, malicious software, and phony links will definitely help the users not only at work, but everywhere else they use a computer.
